With over 1100 miles of coast line and countless estuaries, rivers and streams, PEI offers a huge variety of freshwater and salt water fishing. Despite the range of options, when I think about fishing, I think of trout.  PEI has both rainbow and brook trout, but brook trout, aka speckled trout are the most common.  This carving based on a brook trout. It reminds me of days spent fishing, as a teenager, with my best friend in my brother’s canoe. Though the carving is bigger than any trout I ever caught.   It  is carved from moose antler and mounted on an up-cycled canoe paddle.  The paddle is 53” long   The trout is 12” long and 8” high

I design and carve all of my jewelry and sculpture in my studio/ workshop located in Brackley Beach, Prince Edward Island.

I use antler that is naturally shed and regrown by the animal each year. Once carved, each piece is sanded and buffed to  highly polished finish.
