With over 1100 miles of coast line and countless estuaries, rivers and streams, PEI offers a huge variety of freshwater and salt water fishing. Despite the range of options, when I think about fishing, I think of trout.  PEI has both rainbow and brook trout, but brook trout, aka speckled trout are the most common.  We  refer to the spring run of trout as the strawberry run, because they came in when the strawberries are in blossom.   These fish are carved from beef bone and are mounted on an up-cycled cupboard door. The base is 31” long x 8” high.  The  trout are each 4” – 5” each.  I design and carve all of my jewelry and sculpture in my studio/ workshop located in Brackley Beach, Prince Edward Island.

I use locally sourced beef bone, which I clean and whiten in a multi stage process that takes about 10 days.    Once carved, each piece is sanded and buffed to  highly polished finish.
