Skull Pendant

Description

Memento Mori is a Latin phrase meaning “remember you must die”
About a year ago, I carved a momento mori from beef bone as a commission.  It was meant to be carried in a pocket, so there were no jewelry findings on the carving.   Since then, I have carved many more of these bone skulls, and some have been pins and some have been pendants.

This skull necklace is 1.5 x 1.5”, and is finished with sterling plated findings, an adjustable black cotton cord and an antiqued sterling silver bead.  It can also be worn on a favourite chain.

I use locally sourced beef bone that I clean and whiten. Once carved, each piece is sanded and buffed to a highly polished finish.
